The Center on Mental health and HIV/AIDS
The Public organisation registered in the Ministry of Justice of  RT

The Center is established with support of the Global Initiative in Psychiatry       in 2006.

The Center staff are doctors, psychologists - experts in the sphere of Mental health and HIV/AIDS.
Public organisation “Center on Mental health and HIV/AIDS” is a voluntary self-governing, nongovernmental, noncommercial, public formation, the organizational aims and objective is defined and implemented according to the Charter of the organization, the juridical status is provisioned by Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan "On public unions", the organization is acting according with legislation and other international-legal acts that has been recognized by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Center carries out its activity independently. The organization has broad possibilities to establish and cooperate with both local international organizations within the framework of its clauses mentioned in the objective of the project.
The Center is a legally recognized entity and had been officially registered by the respective executive organs of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Center on Mental health and HIV/AIDS carries out its activity within the administrative boundaries of the Republic of Tajikistan. The official name of the Center:
In Tajik – “Markazi salomatii ruhi va HIV/AIDS”,
In Russian – “Centre po psikhicheskomy zdorovyu i VICH/SPID”;
In English – “Center on Mental Health and HIV/AIDS”.

THE AIMS, TASKS AND TYPES OF THE ORGANIZATION ACTIVITY

 
Protection of mental health, prevention of HIV/AIDS and other socially significant diseases among the Republic of Tajikistan population
  • Psychological support, assistance and protection of the rights of the population:
  • Training and education programs: trainings, seminars, roundtables, conferences, concerts, forums, stock and other activities in the areas of health, mental and reproductive health, sociology, law, gender, culture and education.
  • Promoting access to health care and social assistance in the promotion and integration of stakeholders, improving skills and capacity building services that provide these services;
  • Methodological and technical support programs aimed at promoting education, gender, culture, prevention and treatment of the population, support for mental and reproductive health;
  • Encourage all stakeholders to develop, promote and advance the effective operation of mental health care for the population;
    Increased knowledge, understanding and skills, both specialists and the public in matters of medicine, psychology, mental health and HIV / AIDS, sociology, gender, culture and education;
  • Strengthening cooperation between all stakeholders and the public to provide medical, legal and psychological assistance and support to people;
    Help reduce stigma and discrimination in society through programs and formed the foundations for the promotion of human rights;
  • Develop and implement programs and projects in the fields of medicine, mental and reproductive health, prevention, treatment and psychological rehabilitation of the population, including HIV infection, patients of psychiatric clinics, as well as social support and gender development, culture and education;
  • Conducting research in the field of education, sociology, law, medicine, psychology, mental and reproductive health and HIV / AIDS, as well as other diseases to identify needs and the needs of the population, including HIV positive and their inner circle, patients of psychiatric clinics as well as gender, political, economic, cultural and educational fields in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan;
  • Conducting pre-and post-test counseling for the general population, laboratory diagnosis and treatment of HIV and other diseases under the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan and to advise on the development of programs and projects;
  • Organization and implementation of programs for mental health and reproductive health, sociology, medicine, law, gender, culture and education, as well as on public health, social and legal support to the population and stakeholders;
  • Promotion of independent media, as well as cooperation with the media to conduct a large-scale, long-term, socially significant information campaigns;
  • Implementation of other activities which do not contradict the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan;
